Mandy Vogel ‘22 played a key role in the success of the 2019 girls’ varsity soccer squad. Here, she briefly shares her experience with the sport and the Lawrenceville team.
Connor King: When did you start playing soccer?
Mandy Vogel: I started playing when I was three. My father played as a child, so my siblings and I grew up with the sport.
CK: Do you play outside of school? When?
MV: I played for YMS, which is a club team in Yardley, Pennsylvania. Also, in the three years prior to coming to Lawrenceville, I played for the Olympic Development Program.
CK: What position do you want to play?
MV: I play either the holding center midfielder or attacking center midfield. These positions mostly involve distributing the ball, as well as acting on defense.
CK: How have you grown as a player at Lawrenceville?

CK: How was this season for you and your team?
MV: It has been a really good season. We have accomplished a lot this year. We finished with the MAPL title undefeated and got to the semi-finals of states. I don’t think that could have happened without our team’s culture and hard work this year.
